Website Privacy & Terms of Use
A plain-language account of what CauseWork.io collects, why we collect it, what we deliberately do not collect, and the rules governing use of this public website.

This Website Privacy & Terms of Use document applies to CauseWork.io, its public pages, research and news, product questions, website chat, contact and stay-informed forms, licensing pages, purchase flows, demonstrations linked from the website, and related public services operated by CauseWork.io (“CauseWork,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). It does not replace the CauseWorkHub End User License Agreement governing the licensed product.
2. The boundary that matters
CauseWorkHub is designed to run inside each nonprofit’s own private Hub subdomain, such as hub.yournonprofit.org. The organization controls that installation, its operational database, and its private Vault. Routine use of CauseWork.io does not give CauseWork a copy of the nonprofit’s client, donor, employee, case, financial, document, message, or other operational content. A small public-site connector may transmit only the form or chat submission a visitor deliberately sends to that nonprofit.
3. Information we collect
We collect only information reasonably connected to the interaction you choose. This may include: information you type into contact, chat, stay-informed, study, qualification, licensing, or purchase forms; organization name, role, authority, email address, phone number, Hub subdomain, and order details; EULA version and acceptance evidence; payment status and processor references, but not full card numbers handled by the payment processor; support communications; and limited technical records such as date and time, requested page, browser/device class, referral or campaign information, security events, error details, IP-derived security evidence, and cookie or local-storage identifiers needed for session continuity, abuse prevention, and aggregate site measurement.
4. Information you must not send
Do not submit protected health information, client or case details, donor account data, employee or HR records, government identifiers, passwords, authentication codes, payment-card numbers, financial-account credentials, confidential documents, or other sensitive operational content through CauseWork.io website chat or general forms. Use the private Hub workflow or another expressly approved secure channel.
5. Why we use information
We use information to answer questions; maintain a private website conversation; provide requested updates; evaluate study or program applications; verify organizational identity and purchasing authority; present and preserve EULA acceptance; process and reconcile customer-initiated payments; issue, deliver, register, secure, renew, and support licenses; prevent fraud, spam, misuse, and attacks; diagnose errors; preserve audit evidence; comply with law; enforce agreements; improve accessibility, reliability, documentation, and product direction; and create aggregate or deidentified analysis that does not reasonably identify a person or nonprofit.
6. No sale, advertising profile, or data-broker business
CauseWork does not sell personal information. CauseWork does not rent donor lists, operate a data-broker business, or use website submissions to build advertising profiles for third parties. We do not exchange personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. If our practices materially change, we will update this document before applying the new practice.
7. Cookies and local storage
We use narrowly scoped cookies or browser storage when necessary for security, session continuity, chat continuity, form protection, WordPress administration for authorized personnel, licensing checkout, and privacy-conscious aggregate statistics. We do not require an advertising-cookie ecosystem to provide the website. Browser controls may remove stored values, but doing so can end a chat or checkout session.
8. Payment and licensing records
A payment processor may collect payment information under its own privacy terms. CauseWork receives transaction status, amount, currency, processor reference, and related fraud or dispute information needed to complete and audit the order. CauseWork preserves the organization, authorized signer, accepted EULA version, acceptance statement, timestamp, content hash, order and license references, delivery events, and appropriately minimized technical evidence needed to prove authorization and integrity. Manual annual renewal does not authorize automatic recurring charges.
9. Service providers and disclosures
We may disclose the minimum necessary information to hosting, security, email, payment, licensing, delivery, analytics, legal, accounting, and technical service providers acting for us under appropriate obligations. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or safety, to investigate abuse, to enforce agreements, or in connection with a merger, financing, reorganization, or transfer of the relevant business—subject to continued protection of the information. We do not give a sponsor, referral source, or study partner access to a nonprofit’s private Hub data merely because that party funded or recommended a license.
10. Retention and deletion
We keep records only for as long as reasonably necessary for the stated purpose, security, legal duties, dispute handling, financial reconciliation, license integrity, and documented business needs. General inquiries and update registrations may be deleted when no longer useful or when a valid request applies. Order, EULA, payment, security, audit, and license records may be retained longer because they establish authority, delivery, entitlement, fraud prevention, and legal compliance. Backups and tamper-evident audit records may expire on controlled schedules rather than immediately.
11. Security
We use layered administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information CauseWork.io actually holds, including access controls, protected administrative accounts, MFA where available, HTTPS, minimized collection, secure configuration, logging, rate limits, spam controls, controlled release and licensing records, and incident response. No website, network, or storage system can be guaranteed perfectly secure. Report a suspected vulnerability or privacy incident to support@causework.io. Do not include exploit code, credentials, or sensitive nonprofit data in the first email.
12. Your choices and privacy requests
You may unsubscribe from nonessential CauseWork email, decline optional contact fields, use the public demo without providing a name or email where stated, and request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of personal information associated with you when applicable. We may need to verify identity and authority, and we may retain information that law, security, contract, audit, or fraud-prevention duties require us to keep. Submit requests to support@causework.io. Authorized agents must provide evidence of authority. We will not discriminate against a person for exercising an applicable privacy right.
13. Children
CauseWork.io is directed to nonprofit organizations and adults acting in professional or organizational roles. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly solicit personal information from them through the public website. Contact support@causework.io if you believe a child submitted information improperly.
14. Website permission and acceptable use
CauseWork grants you a limited, revocable, nonexclusive permission to view and use the public website for lawful evaluation, research, communication, and purchasing activity. You must not probe or bypass security, interfere with availability, scrape at unreasonable volume, introduce malicious code, impersonate another person or organization, submit false authority or qualification information, abuse chat or forms, copy protected product materials, attempt to obtain nonpublic code or credentials, or use the website to violate law or another person’s rights.
15. Intellectual property
CauseWork.io, CauseWorkHub, the CauseWorkHub logo, website design, product descriptions, research presentation, software, documentation, graphics, and other original materials are owned by CauseWork.io or used with permission. No right is granted except the limited website permission above. Quotations and links may be used lawfully with accurate attribution; product code, brand assets, substantial copying, republication, or commercial reuse requires written permission.
16. Research, product status, and no legal advice
CauseWork research and news explain operational problems and how CauseWorkHub addresses or plans to address them. They provide general information, not legal, accounting, tax, cybersecurity, accessibility, grant-compliance, or professional advice. Laws, deadlines, thresholds, guidance, and product status can change. Organizations remain responsible for advice specific to their facts. CauseWork distinguishes available capabilities, production configuration, committed development, and future direction; roadmap statements are not a guarantee of a particular release date unless an executed agreement expressly says otherwise.
17. Third-party services and links
Links to government sources, hosts, payment processors, accounting systems, browsers, public website platforms, and other third parties are provided for context or necessary functionality. Their services and practices are governed by their own terms. A link does not transfer responsibility to CauseWork or imply endorsement beyond what the page expressly states.
18. Disclaimers
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE PUBLIC WEBSITE AND ITS CONTENT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” CAUSEWORK.IO DISCLAIMS IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AND UNINTERRUPTED AVAILABILITY. THE CAUSEWORKHUB EULA, NOT THIS WEBSITE DOCUMENT, GOVERNS WARRANTIES AND LIABILITY FOR A LICENSED CAUSEWORKHUB INSTALLATION.
19. Changes and version control
We may update this document to reflect changes in law, product architecture, vendors, security, or website practices. The published effective date identifies the current version. Material changes will apply prospectively, and an accepted EULA version will remain separately preserved with the applicable licensing record.
