Kindred Tails came to CauseWorkHub for a nonprofit operating system. What followed became something larger: a complete public website, field-ready animal publishing, responsible surrender intake, and a connected foundation for rescue, clinical care, conservation, advocacy, and growth.
How it began
They purchased the Hub. We kept listening—and discovered that the technology needed to follow the way the sanctuary actually works.
Mission time was being lost
Volunteers were repeating animal information across devices and pages while also managing care, transport, inquiries, fundraising, and emergencies.
Build around the work
We included a full website redesign, created a phone-first Team app, replaced outside forms, and built a control center designed for the people doing the work.
The capability that was hiding in plain sight
This is not simply an adoption website.
Founder Vicki brings a deep healthcare and medical background that she redirected into animal rescue. Kindred Tails is building a serious sanctuary and rescue operation grounded in disciplined care, responsible intake, stronger evidence, and better outcomes.
Its future reaches beyond adoption alone. The organization is leaning into science, rural animal-welfare capacity, conservation, and relationships with academic veterinary and veterinary-technician programs. That fuller story—and the infrastructure needed to support it—was not visible enough on the old website.

Capture
An authorized volunteer photographs an animal and records its essential details from the phone already in their hand.
Publish
The Team app creates a consistent animal profile immediately, using one canonical record and image across the site.
Respond
Adoption, foster, volunteer, contact, and detailed surrender requests enter a first-party review queue instead of disappearing into unrelated services.
Prove
Everyday work becomes structured evidence for grants, donor trust, board oversight, partnerships, advocacy, and future Mission Pulse reporting.

Kindred Tails Sanctuary & Pet Rescue holds a Georgia Department of Agriculture Animal Protection Division shelter license. The credential authorizes capacity for up to 20 pets and gives funders, partners, adopters, and the public a verifiable foundation for trust.

The signal before the outcome
Measure what almost happened.
A completed surrender tells only the end of the story. The earlier signal is the family who is one veterinary bill, one bag of food, one housing problem, or one temporary crisis away from giving up an animal.
CauseWorkHub can preserve that missing evidence: what pressure brought the family to the edge, what help was requested, what intervention was offered, whether the animal stayed home, and what need remained unresolved.
That turns prevention into something visible. Kindred Tails can show not only how many animals entered care, but how many surrenders were prevented, which resources made the difference, and where the community’s support system is failing before another animal loses its home.
Responsible intake
Surrender should take more than a minute.
A fur baby is not an anonymous form entry. The new intake asks about veterinary care, vaccination records, diet, medications, health, bite history, children in the home, bonded animals, behavior, timing, and the reason help is needed.
It also asks the question that may keep a family together: could food, veterinary help, temporary foster care, training, or housing assistance prevent the surrender? Public submissions never publish automatically. Sensitive records stay protected for staff review.

Bring expertise closer
With appropriate licensing, insurance, and clinical partnerships, Kindred Tails could become a base for coordinated rural house-call services.

Colleges and universities could find a practical learning partner with animals, equipment, experienced leadership, and authentic field conditions.

Protected-animal experience creates legitimate pathways into conservation outcomes, capacity-building support, research partnerships, and broader grants.
The idea that became bigger than one event
Vicki imagined it. We said it should be free to everyone.
Vicki wanted part of the Kindred Tails website to make discovering animals at an event feel visual, personal, and exciting—more like finding a connection than searching inventory. The idea was too useful to keep inside one website.
That conversation became That’s My Pet: a free, zero-ad platform where legal nonprofits and shelters can introduce any legal animal—from cats and dogs to birds, horses, reptiles, farm animals, and far beyond.
The swipe is only the beginning. Every connection can become an adoption, foster home, sponsorship, transport, volunteer, or share. There is no useless swipe.
